While a connected computer 24 hours a day would take decades to process this data, a network of 100,000 smartphones, with the app active at night, can do the same job in just two months.

The objective of this research project related to COVID-19 is, in the first phase, to identify drugs and food molecules with antiviral properties. With the conclusion of this collection, the aim is to optimize the combination between these drugs and food, in order to improve their effectiveness in the treatment of coronavirus. The researchers at Imperial College London believe that, in the long term, this work can accelerate access to effective medicines and allow personalized treatments against this infectious disease.
