A healthcare worker at an Alaska hospital was admitted after having an allergic reaction 10 minutes after receiving the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine.

The worker, with no history of allergies, began to flush after receiving the vaccine and ended up taking an antihistamine.

The adverse reaction was similar to two cases registered in Great Britain. According to the agency Reuters, symptoms in the middle-aged patient resolved after epinephrine was administered for allergy treatment, said Lindy Jones, director of the emergency department where the patient was admitted.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recommended that people with allergies consult their doctors to make sure they are not allergic to any components present in the vaccine.

Britain’s drug regulator has warned people with a history of anaphylaxis or severe allergic reactions to a drug or food not to get the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against Covid-19.
