Guimarães, which for weeks was the municipality most affected by the pandemic, now has an incidence rate below 1,000, less than Barcelos and Famalicão.

According to this Monday’s bulletin from the General Directorate of Health (DGS), Guimarães has an incidence rate of 997 new cases per 100 million inhabitants.

Esposende is the municipality with the highest incidence rate (1,223). There are four other municipalities with rates above 1,000: Famalicão (1,164), Póvoa de Lanhoso (1,121), Vieira do Minho (1,056) and Barcelos (1,045).

Otherwise, there are decreases in most municipalities: Braga (789), Amares (684), Vizela (389), Celorico de Basto (357), Cabeceiras de Basto (371) and Fafe (599).

In the district of Braga there are increases in Vila Verde (from 735 to 746) and Terras de Bouro (from 629 to 755).

In the Viana do Castelo district, there are three municipalities with a cumulative increase in the number of new cases: Caminha (from 460 to 491), Monção (from 386 to 509) and Ponte da Barca (from 492 to 662).

According to the methodological note of the epidemiological bulletin, the 14-day cumulative incidence of SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19 infection corresponds to the ratio between the number of new confirmed cases in the 14 days prior to the time of analysis and estimated resident population, by municipality, as of December 31, 2019, by the National Institute of Statistics, IP, expressed in number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
