Defeated 2-0 by José Mourinho’s Tottenham this Saturday, Manchester City is tenth in the English league.

Pep Guardiola acknowledged that Manchester City has a hard time scoring goals this season. “The statistics speak for themselves,” he said. The team scored only ten goals in eight games. And he was blank again against the spurs.

“We were better in many aspects, but we did not score. The team defended a lot and expected a mistake (from Tottenham),” admits Guardiola. “We found a few moments, but the reality is that we are fighting to score goals this season. That could happen. We received a goal against Liverpool that we should not have done and again today. It is tough. The confidence of the players goes down,” he observed.

In the next round, on Saturday, Manchester City host Burnley. “There are eight points of difference (for Tottenham, who are in the lead), but we have one game less,” recalled the Spanish coach, who commented on the Portuguese team José Mourinho.

“It is a physical team, a well-organized team, so it is not easy to conceal goals in the sixth minute. They are at the top of the league, so they are more rivals than anyone at the moment,” Guardiola praised.
