Government with ″ full availability ″ to review pandemic measures

The Government expressed its total willingness to review the necessary measures to monitor the evolution of the covid-19 pandemic, referring to next week the decision on the regulations that will be applied in the next fortnight.

At the press conference of the Council of Ministers this Thursday – it continues in the afternoon with the aim of approving the Government’s proposal for State Budgets for 2021 – the Minister of State and Presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva, was asked about the Measures to take. participate in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic.

“Next week is the time to review the set of rules that we apply and that we review every fortnight and the numbers that we are learning at this time are the numbers that we had predicted until they happened a few days ago,” he began responding.

It is in this framework of evaluation of the evolution of the pandemic in recent weeks that, according to Mariana Vieira da Silva, next week the government will make the necessary decisions, explaining that at this time he cannot anticipate them as evaluations are necessary. “The availability of review of the measures is total,” he guaranteed.

Even so, the minister reiterated that they will always try to avoid “a scenario of total and generalized confinement”, since the country will hardly be able to live with this situation again.

“We will always take the necessary measures for each moment of the evolution of the pandemic. We will never take measures that we do not consider necessary and we will always have, as we have done in the past, always the ability to take a step back from the measures we have taken and that Meanwhile, we must reverse. ” , he assured.

Portugal returned this Thursday to overcome the barrier of a thousand daily infections by covid-19, reaching 1,278 cases, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

Since the beginning of the pandemic in March, this is the second highest number of cases of infection. The highest was April 10 with 1516. The third day with the most registered cases was March 31 with 1035.

In the last 24 hours, there have been 10 deaths related to covid-19.

In total, Portugal has already recorded 2,050 deaths and 82,534 cases of infection, with 28,967 active cases, 788 more than on Wednesday.
