The Minister of Economy announced today that the Government will launch a non-reimbursable support for the payment of company income next year.

“Launch of non-residential support for the payment of non-residential rents for the first half of 2021,” said Pedro Siza Vieira today.

Payment will be made in two installments during the first semester: one in the first quarter and another in the second. Applications will open in January for this support, he predicted. “We are going to use the mechanism that we use in the Support program, which has been very successful in its application,” he explained.

This support “allows companies to receive support, in the case of companies that register between 25% and 40%, a support corresponding to 30% of income, up to 1,200 euros per month.”

In the case of “a company with a breakdown in sales greater than 40%, will have support corresponding to 50% of the rent, up to 2,000 euros per month.”

If a hotel unit pays an income of five thousand euros per month, with a decrease of 45%, it will have a monthly support of two thousand euros.

And he gave an example of a café, owned by an individual entrepreneur, who pays an income of 700 euros per month, with a drop in billing of more than 25%, has a “monthly support of 210 euros”, a total of 1,260 euros over six months.

In another example, a clothing store that pays a rent of 1,500 euros per month, with a decrease of 45%, has a support corresponding to 50% of the rent, that is, 750 euros per month, 4,500 euros in six months.

A company that is entitled to an aid of two thousand euros per month during the six months of the first semester will have a total aid of 12 thousand euros to pay the rent next year.

“This year, GDP is expected to fall by 17.3 billion euros, this compares with the 21 billion euros of support, of which 2.7 billion are non-refundable. These measures had an impact, the economic growth of our country contracted violently ”, he said.

“We already have some visibility about the end of the crisis, the vaccination program will bring us the possibility of normalizing the health situation; European Council with good prospects for agreement ”, he stressed.
