“In the opinion of the Prime Minister, in his case, this measure seeks to anticipate or predict what could have a great impact on Christmas, raising awareness and reducing contacts. It is necessary to arrive at Christmas with the possibility of bringing the family closer together ”, he justified.

Regarding this general confinement, “it is not taken for granted, but it is a hypothesis that is on the table, anticipating a worsening of the epidemiological context,” he added.
In front of journalists, André Silva said that the government “is particularly committed to extending the restrictions that are being applied to the municipalities of Paços de Ferreira, Felgueiras and Lousada to the rest of the municipalities where the epidemiological context is most affected.”
“The PAN in general agrees with this set of measures, except one in which, in fact, we cannot continue: the prohibition of visits and residences and centers for the elderly. In terms of mental health, it is essential that these people can receive visits ”, argued the PAN deputy.
Regarding the possibility of applying the curfew, André Silva said that, if it is implemented, “we must proceed with the constitutional safeguarding of the validity of the state of exception.”
For now, we consider this measure unnecessary, especially since the outbreaks are taking place in public transport, in the work and family context. Therefore, it is outside these hours [de madrugada] that the contagions are verified ”, he maintained.
For this reason, for the spokesman of the PAN, this party understands that “at this moment, under pain of revision of position, it is absolutely unnecessary to decree a curfew.”
