With a view to preventing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in Portugal, there are five control measures that must be announced by the Government, this Saturday, after the extraordinary Council of Ministers, advances the “SIC News”.

According to the news reported by the television news channel, the curfew is on the table, which may advance in the coming days and worsen at the end of November. According to the “Observer”, this curfew can take place between midnight and six in the morning.

The news channel also advances that among the other hypotheses discussed this Friday with the political parties and social agents are the closure of restaurants and stores from 10 pm and the prohibition of the performance of shows.

It is expected that this Saturday, during the press conference, António Costa will also announce the adoption of restriction measures located in municipalities with a higher level of risk in which the average number of new cases is greater than 240 per 100,000 inhabitants. In these cases, teleworking should be compulsory, whenever possible. School closures are not yet being considered.

The Government’s intention is to review the measures every two weeks, in a similar way to what has been done in recent months.

The prime minister called an extraordinary Council of Ministers for this Saturday to define measures to control the pandemic. The meeting takes place after António Costa meets with the party groups during the afternoon of this Friday.

This Friday, the ministers of health and the presidency met with epidemiologists and the Minister of State for the Economy and the Minister of Social Security listened to the social partners.

The National Council of Public Health is also meeting today to evaluate and discuss tougher measures to combat the pandemic and share this opinion with the Government.
