The Government has approved the reduction of tolls on eight highways and six other sections of entry to the highway, according to the statement from the Council of Ministers on Thursday, October 22.

In this way, toll reductions affect sections A13-1, A22, A23, A24, A25, A28, A29 and A42, as well as sections A4 – Sendim / Águas Santas, A4 – Marão Tunnel, A4 – Vila Real -Bragança (Quintanilha), A13 – Atalaia (A23) / Coimbra Sul and A17 – Mira / Aveiro Nascente (IP5).

The Executive led by António Costa determined that the discount model in the value of tolls provides for a 25% reduction for class 1 and 2 vehicles, from the eighth day of use in a month. “This discount will be applied to certain sections or sub-sections of 10 routes: A22 – Algarve; A23 – IP; A23 – Interior of Beira; A24 – North interior; A25 – Beiras Litoral and Alta; A28 – North Coast; A4 – Subconcession AE of Trás-os-Montes; A4 – Marão Tunnel; A13 and A13-1 – Pinhal Interior Subconcession, ”the government statement read.

The discount for cargo vehicles will also be increased, taking into account that “the current discount of 30% during the day and 50% during the night amounts to 35% and 55%, respectively.”

For the first time, the Government expanded the discount regime for passenger transport to encourage the use of public transport. Thus, “the sections or sub-sections covered for the transport of goods and passengers are included in the ten routes described above, to which are added the Grande Porto concession (A4, A41 and A42) and the Costa da Prata concessions (A17, A25 and A29), harmonizing the current discount regimes ”.
