GNR seizes another 200 for wild camping and illegal motorhomes on the Vicentine Coast

200 infractions, of which 164 resulting from wild camping, as well as motorhome and illegal parking in prohibited areas, and 36 due to non-compliance with traffic signs regulations, were detected by the GNR, during an operation that was carried out in August 26 to 31. in the municipalities of Aljezur and Vila do Bispo, especially in the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentina Coast Natural Park.

The action, promoted by the Portimão Territorial Detachment, within the framework of the “Verão Seguro 2020” operation, had the reinforcement of the Lagos Transit Substation, Portimão Coastal Control Substation, and with the support of the Regional Conservation Directorate of the Nature and Forests of the Algarve (ICNF) and the Maritime Police of Lagos.

The objective was to monitor and combat “illegal caravans and wild camps,” adds the GNR, in a note sent to the newsrooms.

As of August 21, within the scope of the same operation, 122 infractions had been detected, of which 97 were for wild camping as well as for motorhome and illegal parking in prohibited places and 25 for non-compliance with traffic signs regulations.

On August 14, it was the turn of 91 people to be fined, in Vila do Bispo, in an operation that involved the GNR, the ICNF and the City Council.

In addition to this operation, the Silves Territorial Detachment, on days 22 and 23, carried out various actions to combat illegal caravanning in the municipality of Lagoa, having detected a total of 73 infractions, of which 54 were for wild camping, as well as motorhomes . and illegal parking in prohibited places, and 19 for non-compliance with the traffic signal regulations.
