In the internal order issued on Wednesday, to which the newspaper had access, the GNR explains that “according to news received in this Guard, there is the possibility of reprisals against the GNR military”, as a result of the exchange of shots that took place in the park. parking lot of a supermarket in Fernão Ferro, Seixal, in which one individual died and three others were injured.

The same document also establishes that “the patrols must make mandatory use of a ballistic vest”, in addition to that “all police interventions must be communicated and duly provided with special care and security,” according to the GNR Operational Command commander, Lieutenant General José Manuel Lopes dos Santos Correia.

The incident in question involved Miguel Abreu, 43, of Sesimbra. The man was already wanted by the GNR, for having been convicted of theft practices, being, until Tuesday, a fugitive for several robberies in the areas of Benavente and Coruche, explains the ‘JN’. That day he was finally identified, which resulted in an exchange of fire with the GNR, which proved fatal.
