Germany says it has discovered the origin of thrombosis

German researchers from the Greifswald University Hospital say they have already discovered the reason for the development of thrombosis associated with the AstraZeneca vaccine against covid-19.

The German public broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) advances that the analysis carried out on blood samples from affected patients shows how the vaccine causes a rare cerebral thrombosis, and according to the director of the department of Transfusion Medicine, Andreas Greinacher, what happens is that in some people the AstraZeneca vaccine produces an immune response that activates blood platelets that can cause thrombosis.

The same source, cited by the Observer, points out that samples from six patients who developed thrombosis after being vaccinated showed that in all of them the vaccine activated a mechanism that causes blood clots to form in the brain.

It should be noted that the study has yet to be published and the findings have not yet undergone a peer review. The researchers, however, argue that with this discovery and the clearly identified mechanism, a treatment can be developed.
