Gang steals pastry in Vila Verde

A pastry shop in Vila Verde was robbed at dawn on Wednesday. Video surveillance images show a group of five hooded men entering the establishment, after breaking down the entrance door, and looking for valuables to take away.

Speaking to O MINHO, the owner of the Frei Doce patisserie, Nuno Mota, says that the thieves ended up unable to take anything, so “the biggest damage was the door” that was smashed.

“They didn’t take anything, because we always take everything out at night, when we close it we don’t leave any change,” explains the owner of the bakery in Freiriz.

For Nuno Mota, the group was looking for the automatic payment boxes that exist in many establishments.

“From what we see when we see the images, it was what they were looking for, but we don’t have these machines,” he explains.

The assault triggered the alarm. The GNR “appeared very quickly”, but the attackers had already fled.

The establishment has been robbed on other occasions, but in the last four years it is the first.
