The Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Bragança (SCMB) confirmed, this Wednesday afternoon, the fourth death of a user who tested positive for covid-19. It is about a 78-year-old woman who was at home, said José Fernandes, a spokesman for the institution.

Less than an hour earlier, the deaths of three users who tested positive for covid-19 had been confirmed. At the end of the morning, an official source of the institution had indicated the death of an elderly woman, 88 years old, but around 15:30 the SCMB reported that two more deaths were registered, two women of 83 and 95 years old. Already around 4 pm, the number rose again.

One of the fatal victims, an 83-year-old woman, was admitted to the Bragança Hospital. Two others were transferred this Wednesday to the health unit with some symptoms, namely the 88-year-old, whose death was confirmed late in the morning, and the 95-year-old, who had difficulty breathing.

Since the first positive case of covid-19 was diagnosed in the Bragança district on March 14, 32 deaths and 334 people infected by the new coronavirus have been registered. Today only seven more positive cases were reported.

The outbreak of a new coronavirus in SCMB already has 123 infected people, at a time when the results of the tests carried out are awaited. There are 102 users and 21 employees, 20 of whom work in two of the three homes of the institution, located at its headquarters, on Rua Emídio Navarro, reported an official source from this Private Institution of Social Solidarity.
