The Public Ministry accused the former socialist deputy Domingos Pereira of embezzlement and abuse of power, for allegedly using vehicles from the Barcelos municipality to travel to and from the Assembly of the Republic.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, these displacements occurred, “exclusively”, within the scope of the exercise of the mandate as a deputy and not for reasons of service to the Municipality of Barcelos.

Furthermore, the prosecution emphasizes that the defendant, as a non-permanence councilor, “had no right to use a municipal vehicle, or a driver, when their use was not intended to serve the municipality or attend ordinary and extraordinary meetings. their bodies “.

Noting that the accused, as a deputy, “always received” the subsidy for the trip between the residence and the Assembly of the Republic, the Public Ministry adds that Domingos Pereira, with his conduct, caused a loss of 1,749.91 euros to the Chamber . of Barcelos.

Domingos Pereira, for his part, joined the PS and left the post of deputy in the Assembly of the Republic.

He founded the independent Barcelos movement, Terra de Futuro, for which he was elected councilor in the last municipalities.
