The 63-year-old former coach led the team at the 2012 London Olympics and was accused of physical, verbal and sexual abuse of approximately two dozen athletes.

Former American gymnastics coach John Geddert committed suicide on Thursday.

Geddert ended his life after the sexual assault and human trafficking accusations against him were confirmed.

“It’s a tragic ending to a tragic story,” said Michigan attorney general Dana Nessel.

The 63-year-old former coach led the team at the 2012 London Olympics and was accused of physical, verbal and sexual abuse of roughly two dozen athletes between 2008 and 2018 at the club he formed, called Twistars.

John Geddert was very close to Larry Nassar, the former doctor on the same team, who was convicted of abusing at least 265 victims.
