The districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Oporto, Aveiro, Vila Real and Viseu are today and Thursday under a yellow warning for rain forecast, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

These six districts will be under yellow warning between 9 p.m. today and 6 a.m. Thursday due to the forecast of sometimes heavy rains.

The yellow alert is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk for certain activities depending on the weather situation.

The IPMA forecasts for today in the northern and central regions of the continent generally cloudy skies, with open interiors until the early hours of the morning and periods of rain, especially in the south of the Montejunto-Estrela mountain system.

From the end of the afternoon, periods of intense and persistent rains are expected in the Miño, which gradually spread to the rest of the region.

The forecast also points to a weak to moderate wind from the southern quadrant, becoming moderate to strong on the coast at the end of the day, and being strong in the mountains from the end of the afternoon, with gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour at the end of the day. .

Ice or frost formation is also expected in the interior regions, morning fog or mist in some places and a decrease in the minimum temperature.

For the southern region, the sky is generally cloudy, with the interior open until the end of the morning, periods of rain from the beginning of the morning, decreasing in intensity and frequency from mid-afternoon and a decrease in the minimum temperature.

Light to moderate wind is also expected to predominate in the southern quadrant, turning west in the afternoon, and sometimes strong in the highlands.

The minimum temperatures on the continent will vary between 0 degrees Celsius (in Guarda and Bragança) and 10 (in Lisbon) and the maximum between 07 degrees (in Guarda) and 18 (in Faro).
