Heard at the fifth session of the Football Leaks trial, the PJ inspector, José Amador, revealed the disappearance of two bags of evidence when Rui Pinto was extradited to Portugal. The inspector also explained the method that led the PJ to discover the defendant’s address in Budapest, and also told how Rui Pinto was connected to the intrusion of Sporting’s computer system.

The morning of this fifth session of the Football Leaks trial was dedicated to the testimony of Inspector José Amador, an investigator for the PJ cybercrime unit since May 2010.

In the session on Tuesday it was revealed that when the Judicial Police (PJ) went to Budapest to arrest Rui Pinto, 26 evidence bags were closed and closed, which, among other objects, contained hard drives and other computer material. Stamped with the signature of the accused and subsequently kept by the Hungarian police. When Rui Pinto was extradited to Portugal, the PJ realized, upon arrival in Lisbon, that two bags of evidence had disappeared and that the rest had been tampered with. Amador devalued, however, the contents of the missing bags, explaining that one only had handles and the other some unimportant papers.

Inspector José Amador was surprised and contacted the Hungarian police with whom he usually dealt, receiving information that it had been another Hungarian police force, under instructions from the French authorities, handling the evidence bags.

The French police have been investigating the case and analyzing the bags of evidence in question, but José Amador believes that there were no relevant changes to the evidence, only copies were made. Recently, the French authorities asked the PJ to provide Rui Pinto’s passwords, which in the judge’s opinion implies that they could not access the requested information.

Inspector José Amador then explained how the PJ managed to locate Rui Pinto in Budapest. After the wiretaps that the police made of Rui Pinto’s father, stepmother and sister, a message from a bank could be accessed confirming a trip to Budapest. The PJ realized that the defendant’s father and stepmother were going to Hungary to visit him, they realized the date of the flight and then they followed the relatives to Rui Pinto’s address in that country.

In the first part of this fifth session, it was also revealed that the PJ asked Google for information about the IPs that were being used by Rui Pinto. Through this information provided by Google, the PJ determined that an IP associated with Rui Pinto was the same one that had entered Sporting’s computer system, thus being able to connect with the creator of Football Leaks.
