Fines of up to 500 euros if you do not install the application

Portugal returned to the State of Calamity. António Costa, Prime Minister of Portugal, today revealed 8 points that lead to changes in the foreseeable future. One of the announced measures has to do with the mandatory installation of the STAYAWAY COVID application by some groups of citizens.

This measure has already generated much discussion and, in advance, the fines could reach 500 euros.

The STAYAWAY COVID application is one of the most popular in Portugal today. This application, whose installation is voluntary, allows to identify, quickly and anonymously and by physical proximity, the networks of contagion by COVID-19. Then, inform users that they have been in the same space 14 in the same space as someone infected with the new coronavirus.

According to the TSF, the Government's diploma for the mandatory use of a mask and the StayAway Covid application states that citizens who do not comply will have to pay a fine of between 100 and 500 euros. The inspection will be in charge of GNR and police. The likely discussion will only take place on October 23, in plenary.

The diploma also establishes that the use of a mask must be mandatory for people over 10 years of age for “access, circulation or permanence in public spaces and roads when the physical distance recommended by the National Health Authority is not practical” and the StayAway application Covid on mobile phones, "in the work or equivalent, school and academic context", a "have equipment that allows it".

Those who do not comply with the fines are heavy! In practice, they are the same ones that were already regulated in the administrative regime in the context of the pandemic. That is, for natural persons, the fine ranges between 100 and 500 euros, while for legal persons it ranges between 1,000 and 5,000 euros.
