With the covid-19 vaccine raising hopes of returning to normal, 2021 will give us the possibility of enjoying 17 holidays, of which eleven will be during the week.

In practice, the Portuguese will have the possibility to take advantage of several large weekends, the first of which is already in the first days of the new year, since day 1 is this Friday … However, this cannot be use properly, due to the regulations imposed by the Government to minimize the spread of covid-19, namely, the prohibition of movement between municipalities and the curfew from 23:00.

It is expected that the pandemic crisis will ease more in mid-February, when there is the first possibility of building a bridge, with Shrove Tuesday, although this is a public holiday that depends on the decision of the municipalities and companies. as it is optional.

The rest of the bridges are distributed between June 4 and 11, October 4 and another that depends on the municipalities where you live, since it will depend on the celebration of São João (June 24, Thursday) or São Pedro (June 29, June, Tuesday -market). On this occasion, the festival of Santo António is celebrated on Sunday (June 13), so the people of Lisbon, for example, will not have the right to a long weekend.

There are also three other holidays that, in 2021, will be the weekend. These are the cases of May 1 (Labor Day), August 15 (Assumption Day) and Natal.
