Fight Covid-19. Greece to close bars and restaurants

Greece has registered a number of Covid-19 cases well below that of most European countries, but in recent days it has seen a gradual increase in infections.

For this reason, the Greek Prime Minister announced new measures to combat the epidemic in Greece closing, starting Tuesday, of restaurants, bars, cafes, cinemas, museums and gyms in various regions of the country, including the capital Athens.

The curfew – between midnight and 5 in the morning -, which was already in force in the most affected areas, extends to the entire country.

“These new rules focus on two verifiable sources of virus transmission: entertainment and movement of people, “said Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Stores, industry and schools will remain open as will other services such as hotels and hairdressers.

Like many other European countries, Greece has also tried to avoid, at all costs, a global stagnation like the one that occurred at the beginning of the pandemic.

This Friday Greece registered a peak of new cases. There were another 1,690 and five deaths.
