The National Federation of Nurses Unions asked the President of the Republic to sensitize the Government to finalize the daily epidemiological bulletin of covid-19, considering that this information has a negative effect on the population.

“We must stop the epidemiological bulletin because the information is so constant, absorbing and useless that it has a direct negative effect on the population, which does not reach hospitals and health centers,” said the spokesman for the National Federation of Nurses Unions (FENSE), José Correia Azevedo, at the end of an audience with the President of the Republic.

José Correia Azevedo considered that the information contained in the bulletin, the number of deaths and new cases, is “so harmful that people forget that they have much more aggressive pathologies than those of covid-19.”

The FENSE spokesman asked Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to sensitize the Government to “put an immediate end to” the epidemiological bulletin.

The union leader said that there are patients in treatment for serious illnesses for fear of going to hospitals because “they are afraid of catching it.”

José Correia Azevedo defended that statistics should not be ended, but it would be important to be careful in their dissemination.

The FENSE hearing took place within the framework of a round that the President of the Republic is conducting on the development of the covid-19 pandemic in Portugal, with several personalities linked to the Health and social sectors and who have already included former ministers, professional orders, unions and associations.

FENSE was the second structure that the head of state received this Friday afternoon, after the Portuguese Union of Nurses.
