‘Facebook Dating’ (‘Facebook Encounters’) arrived today in Portugal and promises to “face” some of the most popular hooking applications of the public, such as Tinder. This tool is based on a number of common interests, for example, Events and Facebook Groups.
‘Encontros do Facebook’ works within the social network itself but is completely independent. To do this, you just have to create a profile in ‘Encontros do Facebook’ and take advantage of the functionality.
It works in four functions:
Stories: ‘Encontros do Facebook’ allows you to share your Facebook and Instagram stories. By demonstrating authentic moments in everyday life, you are expected to make a meaningful connection with a person interested in the same things. If you choose to share the stories on the ‘Encontros’ profile, you are proving, rather than saying, who you are, before even making a match.
‘Secret passions’: The ‘Secret Passions’ feature, Secret Crush in English, allows you to explore possible relationships with people we already know on Facebook and Instagram. As a general rule, ‘Encontros do Facebook’ will not match Facebook friends and Instagram followers, but it is possible to select up to nine friends / followers as ‘Secret Passions’. If some of these people also select you as a ‘Secret Passion’, a match occurs automatically. However, if the person identified as ‘Secret Passion’ is not even registered in ‘Facebook Encounters’, you will never know that they have been selected.
Events and Groups: Through Events and Groups you can meet other people with similar interests, just activate the option to add Events and Groups to ‘Facebook Meetings’. For example, if someone goes to a concert or belongs to a group of dog owners, you will be able to see who the other people are who go to this Event and belong to this Group, as long as they are registered in ‘Facebook Encounters’.
Virtual meetings: For those who just match someone up and want to video chat, Facebook allows them to start a video call right away by clicking on the video icon in the message box. When you start the video call, an invitation will be sent and as soon as it is accepted, the call will start, and the name and profile photo in ‘Encounters’ will be visible.
