About two weeks after being cured of covid-19, Lewis Hamilton is far from being physically recovered and this Monday he gave some more details of the consequences of the disease, which even forced the seven-time Formula 1 world champion to fail in the penultimate GP of the season in Sakhir.

“I lost 6 kg in the last two months, four of which when I had covid-19. I lost a lot of muscle and now I start to work from a very low point in terms of strength, ”wrote the Briton on Instagram.

“It’s not fun, but I’m determined to get my strength back and be 100% back,” he said, a day after being named the BBC’s Athlete of the Year.

After the Abu Dhabi GP, the last race of the F1 World Championship, in which he finished 3rd, Hamilton admitted to being “devastated” and continuing to have difficulties, especially at the lung level, after a period of isolation that, according to him, one of the “hardest weeks in a long time.”

“I don’t feel well, but I’m happy, grateful to be alive,” he told Sky Sports microphones at the end of the race. “It was a very difficult race physically. Throughout the year I have been physically well, but today definitely not. I think I’ve never been like this ”, he also stressed.
