The former president of Doyen, Nélio Lucas, said in court on Tuesday that he did not remember the circumstances and details of the loans that Doyen made to the Futebol Clube do Porto.

Rui Pinto’s lawyer, Francisco Teixeira da Mota, questioned Nélio Lucas about the fact that the FCP recorded a loan of 3 million euros from Banco Carregosa, the bank with which Doyen worked in Portugal, and that amount coincided with that of a loan from Doyen to the dragons.

“How was the operation? I don’t remember,” Nélio Lucas declared during his testimony at the Rui Pinto trial.

“Did you have a direct intervention in this loan?” Asked Teixeira da Mota. “I didn’t. I didn’t, I didn’t sign it, I don’t remember it,” Nélio Lucas replied.

Subsequently, Teixeira da Mota questioned Nelio Lucas about another sum of 1.5 million euros, dated February 2015, which the Dean recorded in his documents as a loan to the FCP. “Did it have something to do with the 3 million loan?” Asked Rui Pinto’s lawyer. “I don’t remember, I don’t know how to specify,” replied Nélio Lucas.

Rui Pinto’s defense also ran into Nélio Lucas’s ignorance of other matters, such as the fact that Twente, one of the clubs financed by Doyen, was sanctioned by the Dutch sports authorities.

“Doyen made an investment like he did with other clubs. It was more like one more operation,” said Nélio Lucas. “You know that the club had problems with the Dutch sports authorities,” said Teixeira da Mota. “I have no idea,” replied Nélio Lucas.
