Aníbal Pinto, accused in the Football Leaks case, defended this Tuesday in a court that in 2015 he participated in a legitimate process of negotiating a service contract between Rui Pinto and Doyen. “Rui Pinto never made me understand that he was joking, nor did I let him. Now if you used that to touch Doyen you have to ask him,” said Rui Pinto’s former lawyer, when asked by Doyen’s lawyer. Sofia Ribeiro Branco.

The accusation that Rui Pinto and Aníbal Pinto in 2015 tried to extort money from Doyen for between half a million and one million euros is questioned. Rui Pinto always maintained that she did not want that money, just to find out how far Nélio Lucas’s company was willing to go to protect its secrets.

Aníbal Pinto has also been defending that he did not participate in an extortion attempt, but in the negotiation of a service contract between Doyen and Rui Pinto, before that negotiation fell apart, after a meeting between Nélio Lucas and Aníbal Pinto, on October 21, 2015, they were monitored by the Judicial Police.

In the second session of the trial, Aníbal Pinto reiterated that it was “normal” for a company attacked by a computer attack to want to hire someone to defend itself, reaffirming that in this contractual negotiation Rui Pinto would have told him that he intended to receive 20 thousand euros a year, but Hannibal defended himself 25 thousand.

Doyen’s lawyer asked him who had the idea that the money for this eventual provision of services would be paid through an offshore company in Malta or Cyprus, according to the newspaper “Public” reported last month. “If he had an offshore problem, it was his idea,” Aníbal Pinto replied.

The lawyer was also asked if he considered it normal for the preliminary version of the contract between Doyen and Rui Pinto to be negotiated under the anonymity of the latter, who later contacted the identity Artem Lobuzov. “Wasn’t it normal for you to identify yourself?” Asked Sofía Ribeiro Branco. “It was not normal, it was mandatory. Rui Pinto requested anonymity to negotiate the contract. If it was done, obviously it was Rui Pinto who came to sign,” Aníbal Pinto replied.
