The testimony of David Tojal, a former Sporting computer technician, could have dropped three of the 68 crimes of improper access for which Rui Pinto is being tried, that is, in relation to the alleged access to Jorge Jesús’ mailboxes. , Bruno de Carvalho and Tiago Vieira.

This Wednesday, in court, David Tojal reviewed several access logs (“logs”) to the Sporting computer system by users outside the club, specifically from IPs located in Budapest and Vila Nova de Gaia, having confirmed improper access to several Sporting mailboxes, according to the indictment, except for three.

According to the witness cited by the Public Ministry, in the early morning of July 21, 2015 an attempt was made to access the accounts of then-president Bruno de Carvalho, coach Jorge Jesús and employee Tiago Vieira, all without success. In this way, the crime of violation of correspondence related to Bruno de Carvalho can also fall.

From the rest of the analysis of the record from several days later (until the Football Leaks blog began publishing Sporting documents, such as Jorge Jesús’ contract and Doyen’s contract, on September 29, 2015), David Tojal confirmed a number of hits. obtained from abroad, but none of the listings contained the names of Bruno de Carvalho, Jorge Jesus and Tiago Vieira.

The former Sporting IT manager confirmed intrusions in the mailboxes of the then employees Bruno Cardoso, Carlos Vieira (administrator), José Vicente Moura, Manuel Fernandes, Rui Caeiro, Virgílio Lopes, Sancho Freitas, Octávio Machado, Pedro Solano Almeida, Augusto Inácio, Tiago Fernandes, José Laranjeira, Alexandre Godinho, Paulo Henriques and Paulo Antunes Silva. In some cases on July 28, in others on August 4, in others on September 21 and 28, 2015.

The testimony of David Tojal left doubts about the duration of another attack, after many of these intrusions, which on September 22 blocked Sporting emails. Although the website and other IT services continued to function, this attack “broke” the email system. “There were hundreds of commands launched at the same time and our server was unable to respond,” the witness said.

However, Judge Margarida Alves had doubts about the real impact of this attack, since the “logs” of Sporting emails point to the recovery of access by club employees to their emails hours after the attack. contradicting the idea that the club was without access to email for several days.

It is recalled that the Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry accuses the accused Rui Pinto of the responsibility of a DDoS attack (Distributed denial of service), which bombarded Sporting’s computer system with a high volume of requests that rendered that same system inoperative. The indictment indicates that this paralyzed the use of Sporting’s institutional email for 3 days. That is why Rui Pinto is also accused of a crime of computer sabotage.

David Tojal will continue to be heard in court early next Tuesday. Still for next week, the testimony of several other witnesses whose emails were attacked was scheduled, including former President Bruno de Carvalho and former administrator Carlos Vieira.

Rui Pinto is accused of a total of 90 crimes, including one of computer sabotage against Sporting, one of attempted extortion of Doyen (co-authored with his then legal representative Aníbal Pinto), 68 of improper access, six of illegitimate access and 14 for violation of correspondence.

Football Leaks: Bruno de Carvalho will testify at the trial on October 15. In Sporting, several passwords were the acronym SCP

Other elements that made up Sporting’s structure when the club’s emails were attacked in 2015 will also testify next week, Judge Margarida Alves said Wednesday, following testimony from a former Sporting IT technician.
