Leandro, a former left-back, also represented Palmeiras and ended up watching the Libertadores final … on the squad.

The Military Police of Rio de Janeiro announced that 10 supporters with false credentials were arrested when they tried to enter the Maracana Stadium to witness the final of the Copa Libertadores between Palmeiras and Santos.

One of those arrested was Leandro, a former left-back who came to pass through Portuguese football: in 2005 he signed for FC Porto, which he represented for half a season, before returning to Brazil through the Cruzeiro gate. Later, in 2007, 2008 and 2012, he wore the colors of Palmeiras and, this Saturday, he wanted to see up close the São Paulo duel in the final of the queen of South American football.

It did not happen and Leandro ended up watching the victory of “his” Palmeiras via television broadcast, at the police station. The former player was with two friends, gave testimonies and was released around 9:30 p.m. (Brazilian time). Upon leaving, he explained that he had access to the false credential through a friend, who was also arrested.

“I got there, it was a colleague who said he had the ticket and he passed. And I, without knowing anything, in innocence, I went. (…) I think they tricked us, part of that happens. Congratulations. To the police. , who did his job well. Go ahead and go after whoever has to go, “said Leandro, quoted by Globoesporte.

As there were no ticket sales for the Libertadores final due to the pandemic, CONMEBOL made 2,500 credentials available to the guests.
