“We live in times of great uncertainty, which force us to adjust models and processes, avoiding resorting to dismissal. Our only priority is to secure current jobs, ”explains the company’s management.

The workers of the EB 2,3 canteens and Barcelos secondary schools went on strike today and demonstrated before the City Council, in a protest mainly related to the uncertain-term contracts imposed by Uniself, the company that cedes the food service in the municipality.

In addition to contracts for at least the entire school year, the protesters also demanded an increase in the weekly workload, the hiring of all workers who worked in the previous school year, the reinstatement of all rights that prevailed in the year. previous school and salary increases. “Worthy and fair.”

In the note sent to Lusa, Uniself points out that it is a “responsible company, focused on maintaining its sustainability, despite the multiple adversities derived from the covid-19 pandemic.”

He says that the company has had a “clear commitment” to human resources, through salary updates and the training of its teams.

Remember that in 2020 the minimum wage of the lower echelons increased by 5.83%, “with a view to proposing a fair and balanced salary proposal.”

“Of the more than 3,500 Uniself employees, more than 1,500 are assigned to cafeterias and 70% are effective and 30% on time,” he says.
