«I have been president of FC Porto for 38 years and most people can rightly say that few things can surprise me as a sports coach. However, for me and for everyone in the world of football, 2019/2020 was a season different from all the others we are used to and much more challenging than usual, ”he added, highlighting, however, the sporting success achieved by the team in 2019/2020.
“The season was marked by achieving a double that few believed possible in January, when we were in second place with a considerable delay to first. The competition with which this club works, the great capacity of the technical team led by Sérgio Conceição and the talent of our squad, at least for me, were never questioned, and that is why the results obtained did not surprise me, ”he stressed.
And he continued his reasoning: “Despite the sporting success, it is not possible to disguise that the events of the last few months have had a very negative impact. The conditions were created so that soon we can definitely combine economic success with sporting success that we have not lacked.
