Several players from Wolverhampton, a club of the English Football League, offered autographed game shirts for auction, with the aim of contributing to the purchase of protection and fire fighting equipment by the Volunteer Firefighters of Viana do Castelo.

9 jerseys (Rui Patrício, João Moutinho, Daniel Podence, Pedro Neto, Bruno Jordão, Rúben Neves, Rúben Vinagre, Diogo Jota and Raúl Jiménez) and a pair of gloves by goalkeeper Rui Patrício will be auctioned.

The auction will be online, on eBay, starting at 12:00 on Monday the 14th and will last for 10 days.

The initiative came from the firefighters of the corporation who, “given the economic difficulties that the association is going through (associated with the current pandemic), decided to try to help and put creativity into action, having received this incredible response from these actors”, O MINHO explains one of the promoters, Joana Mendes.

“The players were contacted individually and, being with a solidarity purpose and so relevant in our society, they very kindly agreed to help their country, having sent autographed shirts used in the game,” he adds.

The initiative pleased the direction of the Volunteer Firefighters of Viana do Castelo.

“Any help that may appear is commendable. These initiatives are unprecedented within the Fire Station, but they are very well received ”, highlights O MINHO, president of the Viana do Castelo Fire Department, José Salgado.
