Hackers threaten to reveal confidential data and demand € 10 million ransom from EDP

EDP ​​was the target of a major computer attack yesterday. The hackers, who managed to gain access to a company internal server, are now demanding € 10 million in ransom. They claim to have 10 Terabytes of data in their possession and threaten to make it public or sell it. It will include information on finance, human resources and management.

Hackers want payment to be made in a virtual currency, Bitcoin, and require 1,580 bitcoins. Each unit is worth 6,250 euros, and after all, hackers ask for 9.8 million euros.

The pirates gave the national power company about 21 days to pay the ransom.

In a statement quoted by the newspaper “Expresso”, EDP clarifies that “there is no impact on the continuity of the energy supply”.

The CyberTeam group posted a message on Twitter claiming responsibility for the attack, declaring Altice the next target and also saying, “Stay tuned, April 25 is coming.”
