Due to the “very significant increase in cases, associated with a large number of contacts,” in the territories of Vila Real de Santo António and Castro Marim, “the two municipalities decided to take preventive measures and make joint recommendations on covid-19.
According to a joint statement on Saturday, “given the close relationship between the two municipalities, it was decided to develop a joint strategy to control and mitigate pandemics.”
After a joint meeting, the mayors, health delegates and civil protection coordinators, in addition to the general measures determined by the Government, decided:
➡️ Suspend all events;
➡️ Suspend training that involves collective sports activities;
➡️ Recommend wearing a mask, even on the street;
➡️ Strengthen the prohibition of private parties, in the terms already provided by DGS;
➡️ Request the collaboration of the police forces for a strict implementation of the national and municipal regulations related to the fight against the pandemic, identification of offenders and application of the sanctions provided by law;
➡️ Request that the spirit of civility and discipline already shown by citizens throughout this crisis be reinforced, avoiding all non-essential personal and professional contacts, as well as each and every one of risk behaviors.
“We are at a fundamental moment. It is still in our hands to stop the widespread transmission of the virus,” says the statement that concludes that “the government, health professionals and each and every citizen, have duties to fulfill.” .
