Donald Trump’s legal team announced that he called for a recount of votes in Georgia on Saturday after Joe Biden’s victory in that state.

The results of the Georgia elections were published on Friday: Biden beat Donald Trump by 12,670 votes, out of about five million votes in total, in that state, as announced by Georgia’s election official, Republican Brad Brad Raffensperger.

Under Georgia law, a candidate can request a recount if the margin is less than 0.5%. It is recalled that a count of all votes has already been made in this state, but it is not considered an official count, as it is the result of a mandatory requirement.

Now, between Trump, who had 49.25%, and Biden, with 49.51%, there is a margin of 0.26%.

“The Trump campaign petitioned for a recount in Georgia. We are focused on ensuring that all aspects of Georgia state law and the United States Constitution are followed so that all legal votes are counted. The president (…) and his campaign continue to insist on an honest count in Georgia, which must include signed correspondence and other vital safeguards, ”the Trump campaign announced in a statement quoted by NBC.

“Without signed correspondence, this recount would be a sham and allow the illegal votes to be re-counted,” he says.

Before knowing that Georgia had won, Biden was soon declared the winner of the US presidential election after winning in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.
