Contrary to what happened a few years ago, today there are many “storage gigs” of data to give away and sell. However, recently, a government measure has reduced the space for family doctors’ email boxes to 4%.

If until now doctors were entitled to an email box with 50 GB of storage space, now it has exceeded 2 GB.

96% reduction in space in mailboxes

The Ministry of Health has drastically reduced the capacity of family doctors' e-mail boxes. As of now, GPs have only 4% of the storage space they had. Such a change is already generating problems in communication between professionals and users, reveals TVI.

The general secretary of the Union of Independent Doctors, Roque da Cunha, told TVI24 that, in total, there are 1,800 doctors who are not in health centers, since they are monitoring patients with COVID-19, and that, for that reason , they have less time to accompany their users. One way to contact patients is through email.

The doctor assures that he still does not understand "why the country, which has a support bazooka throughout Europe and where the priority is digital and Health, how the Ministry of Health makes this space less accessible."

Doctors fear that this measure jeopardizes the monitoring of users, who send emails to request tests and medication. Furthermore, the union also says it is investigating whether there was even information that was lost. The Ministry of Health has not yet revealed the reason for such a decision.
