IMM needs 12 thousand volunteers to carry out what will be the most complete evaluation of the prevalence of COVID-19 in Portugal. This study aims to determine the proportion of the Portuguese population that developed antibodies against the coronavirus, that is, that they have already been in contact with the virus, but remained asymptomatic.

Between September 8 and October 7, twelve thousand volunteers will take a free serological test. Therefore, this will allow us to estimate the percentage of people who have been exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

How can they participate in the COVID-19 study?

Volunteers will be able to register through the Painelcovid19.pt website. For more information about the study, a helpline is available at the number 808 100 062.

The data collected will only be used within the scope of the National COVID-19 Serological Panel.

Six months after the first cases of COVID-19 in Portugal, information on the incidence of the virus remains scarce. Therefore, it is important to draw a picture of the disease in the country, which will be based on the most complete assessment of the prevalence of infection in Portugal.
