To help hotel and restaurant business owners understand how they can operate on New Year’s Eve, specifically about what types of services they can provide and until what time, the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Similar Establishments of Portugal (AHRESP) issued a note detailing the measures implemented by the Government.

In the note sent to the press this Wednesday, AHRESP explains the different scenarios in the operation of food and beverage services in a tourist accommodation establishment during the last night of 2020.

“The limitation of opening / closing hours does not apply to Vacation Rentals (subsection d) of article 14 of Decree No. 11-A / 2020, of December 21); Vacationers will be able to continue offering food service under the terms in which they usually provide this service to all clients (guests and passers-by) until 10:30 p.m., like any other catering establishment inserted or not in a tourist accommodation located in mainland Portugal ”. , the note reads.

AHRESP adds that “after 10:30 pm, the food service is exclusively for guests, as usual. All the sanitary norms defined by the DGS (orientation 023/2020 and AHRESP good practice guide) for restoration must be met ”.

The association leaves the alert that “from 23 hours and, taking into account the prohibition of circulating on public roads (article 49-A of Decree No. 11-A / 2020, of December 21), tourists only they can be guests and workers of the unit ”.

In the case of guests, AHRESP emphasizes that “at no time are they obliged to be confined to the room, being able to enjoy the services and common areas of the company when they wish and the accommodation unit allows it, complying with sanitary regulations “.
