Champions Liverpool beat Leicester 3-0 on Sunday with a goal from Diogo Jota, and joined José Mourinho’s Tottenham at the top of the Premier League.
At Anfield Road, in the 41st minute, the Portuguese forward scored the reds’ second goal, the eighth since joining the club, and made history by breaking a new club record: never before had a Liverpool player scored in the first four home games for the Reds.
The Portuguese goal came after Fox defender Jonny Evans opened the scoring at 21, in an unfortunate play.
In the second half, Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino confirmed Liverpool’s triumph and the loss of Leicester’s isolated advantage, which once again could not count on Portuguese full-back Ricardo Pereira due to injury.
The English champions will finish the round at the top of the Premier League with 20 points and on par with Tottenham de Mourinho, who on Saturday received and beat Manchester City, FC Porto’s rival in the Champions League, 2-0.
Leicester, which was coming off three consecutive victories, is now fourth with 18 points, equal to Chelsea.
