The municipalities of Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra, Almada, Maia, Matosinhos and Vila Nova de Gaia left the ranks of very high and extreme risk, according to the incidence of new cases verified between December 14 and 27 and revealed this Monday by the Meeting. -General of Health (DGS).Compared with the data of December 20, the incidence of Covid-19 decreased in 165 of the 308 Portuguese municipalities, increased by 124 and did not change in 19. The number of municipalities with very high and extreme risk: the two highest levels risky serious risks and that imply a mandatory curfew between 11 pm and 5 am – it fell from 116 to 100. This is because the municipalities at extreme risk fell from 26 to 25 and those with very high risk fell from 90 to 75.
The data now disclosed, however, does not yet have any impact on the measures that are in effect until January 7. Tomorrow the new list will be released with the levels that each municipality will occupy from January 8, the day the next state of emergency comes into effect.This new list dictated by the incidence of the pandemic between December 21 and January 3 is expected to cause important changes in relation to the list published this Monday by DGS. The increase in infections after the festive season is already visible in the data revealed this Monday for the north of the country (see text on the side). According to the data announced this Monday by the DGS, the municipalities with the highest incidence are in Alentejo. The list is headed by the municipality of Mourão, with 3,388 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. It is followed by the municipalities of Mora, with 2,682 cases, Vidigueira (1942), Nisa (1815) and Viana do Alentejo (1613). In these small municipalities, the appearance of outbreaks in homes was enough to trigger the incidence of Covid-19.

Miranda do douro
The municipality of Miranda do Douro has the highest incidence rate of the Northern Regional Health Administration, with 2,254 cases per 100,000 inhabitants between the third and last week of December.

Very high and extreme
The very high risk implies having 480 to 960 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. At extremely high risk, there are more than 960 cases per 100,000 people.

North with increased infections between festive seasons
Six districts of the Northern Regional Health Administration had an increase of more than 30% in new cases between Christmas and New Year, reveals a report that Lusa had access to. Braga, with a growth of 57%, registered the highest increase, followed by Aveiro (48% more) and Bragança (46% more).

Increase in infected after Christmas
The Hospital de S. João, in Porto, has already registered an increase in Covid-19 cases due to the relaxation of restrictive measures at Christmas. In the last few days in the emergency room, more than 100 people suspected of having contracted the disease have been treated daily. “Of these suspected cases, between 25% and 30% are confirmed. This shows that the situation may get worse and that it is necessary to comply with the measures,” explained Nelson Pereira, coordinator of the São João Emergency Service on Monday.

Currently, 101 patients with Covid-19, 46 are admitted to that hospital in the Intensive Care Unit, with 22 ICU beds open beyond normal capacity.

Meanwhile, 1500 more vaccines arrived yesterday, to be administered between today and tomorrow.
