DGS records another death and 41 new cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve

There is one more death and 41 new cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve, according to data from the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) of this Wednesday, October 21, which has just been published.

According to figures from the DGS, the Algarve now has, since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,307 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

The General Directorate of Health also registers another death in the Algarve today, reaching a total of 23. Even so, these figures do not coincide with those of the Regional Health Authority, which has already registered 26 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

For example, the death of a 93-year-old user from Lar de Balurcos (Alcoutim), which occurred on Sunday, was not yet accounted for, as well as the death of a 79-year-old man from Tavira, known last Saturday.

Of the 16 deaths, nationwide, reported in today’s bulletin, 8 occurred in Lisbon, 4 were in the North, two in the Center, one in Alentejo and one in the Algarve. The total rose to 2,229.

In Alentejo, in addition to one more death, there are now more than 50 infected with the new coronavirus, bringing the cumulative total to 2,163.

Today Portugal once again has a daily increase in new cases of over 2,000. Today, 2,535 are recently infected.

As for those recovered, the number increased significantly, registering an additional 1,340. Even so, there is an increase in active cases (1,179 more, for a total of 40,804).

By regions, the North is once again the one with the most infected, 1,379, bringing the accumulated amount to 42,921.

Today, Lisbon and the Tagus Valley register 863 more cases of Covid-19, which means that 49,459 cases have been diagnosed in this region since the start of the pandemic.

They are followed by the Center (8743, plus 197), the Alentejo (2163, plus 50), the Algarve (2307, plus 41), the Azores (329, plus 1) and Madeira (349, plus 4).

From yesterday to today, there has been a considerable increase in the number of people admitted to the country’s hospitals, which now number 1,272 (+35). Of these, 187 are in intensive care (+11).

Today, there is a decrease in surveillance contacts, which now total 55,882 (minus 244).
