Two men, aged 38 and 50, were arrested by the GNR for violating the mandatory confinement to which they were subjected, in the context of the covid-19 pandemic, in the municipality of Arouca. One was at work and the other was arrested twice, once on Wednesday and once this Thursday, for being on the street.
In a statement, the Aveiro Territorial Command of the GNR, through the Criminal Prevention and Community Surveillance Section (SPC) of Oliveira de Azeméis and the Arouca Territorial Post, reports that the two men were arrested on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
On Tuesday, during a police action to verify the mandatory confinement obligation, the GNR military went to the 38-year-old man’s residence and found that the man was not there. “After contact with the offender, it was possible to realize that he was at his workplace, determined to return home, after which he was arrested,” the statement read.
On Wednesday, military personnel from the Arouca Territorial Post arrested the 50-year-old man for committing the same crime in the parish of Santa Eulália. This Thursday, at 8.30 am, he was found again in the street, violating the mandatory confinement, and was again arrested in the town of Burgo, in Arouca.
The detainees were accused and the facts were referred to the Arouca District Judicial Court.
In the statement, the GNR also recalls “that all patients with covid-19, those infected by SARS-CoV-2 and citizens are kept in mandatory confinement, in a health facility, at their home or in another defined place. by the health authorities, to whom the health authority or other health professionals have determined active surveillance. The violation of compulsory confinement constitutes a crime of disobedience “.
