Dengue in Paraná kills 11 more and has 15 thousand new cases this week

Sesa (Secretary of State for Health) confirmed on Tuesday (5) 11 more deaths caused by dengue in Paraná during the last week. Therefore, the number of deaths caused by the disease reaches 122, which is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

The dengue epidemiological bulletin is updated weekly by Sesa. The Secretary of State reports on the cases accumulated since August 2019.

In the past week, more than 15,000 new cases have been added to the total. Thus, with 15,320 new dengue records, the accumulated total reaches 157,418.

The Secretary of State for Health of Paraná reinforces the need to maintain an effective fight against dengue, even during the period of Covid-19 confrontation.

“The data is worrisome and the state remains alert and vigilant. But we have to count on the support of the population and not forget basic care, even in this period when we face the coronavirus, ”said Beto Preto.

The advance of dengue in the last seven days exceeded 10%. The incidence and distribution of the disease are also a cause for concern. More than 55% of the municipalities have an epidemic.

Six cities entered an epidemic state this week: Paranaguá, Santa Lúcia, Santa Tereza do Oeste, Campina da Lagoa, Kaloré, Sertanópolis and Lviv. All of them registered an incidence of more than 100 confirmed indigenous cases for every 100,000 inhabitants.

DEATHS FROM DENGUE IN PARANÁ

According to Sesa, 11 deaths were added to the Paraná data. Londrina, in the region of the note, confirmed three fatal cases in the last seven days.

It is noteworthy that the victims are in different age groups. Among the victims is a 93-year-old woman with diabetes. However, two people also died without associated comorbidities. An adult of 55 years and a young woman of only 24 years.

The most recent bulletin on dengue in Paraná also indicates two deaths in Medianeira and one in Foz do Iguaçu, Cianorte, Maringá, Alvorada do Sul, Florestópolis and Quatro Pontes.
