In theater, he worked with companies like Teatro Meridional and Teatro do Vestido, but it was mainly in film and television where he developed his career.
On television, Filipe Duarte also made series, soap operas and participated in children’s programs, gave voice for advertising, cartoons and video games.
“A Febre do Ouro Negro” (2001), A Ferreirinha “(2004),” Ecuador “(2008)” and “Belmonte” (2013) are some of the television projects in which he has participated.
In the cinema, he appeared in more than thirty films, including short films, telefilms and feature films, including comedy, drama and romance, and worked with, among others, Luís Filipe Rocha, António-Pedro Vasconcelos, Manuel Mozos, Margarida Cardoso, Tiago Guedes and Vítor Gonçalves.
The film “The other margin” (2007), by Luís Filipe Rocha, in which he plays the transvestite embittered by life and that won him the best actor award at the Montreal Film Festival in Canada, stands out.
It is also worth remembering the participation of Filipe Duarte in “A costa dos murmúrios” (2004), by Margarida Cardoso, and together with Beatriz Batarda, filmed in Mozambique.
It was at that time, when he returned to Africa as an adult, that Filipe Duarte decided to have dual nationality, Portuguese and Angolan.
Filipe Duarte’s most recent film appearances came with “Variações” (2019), in which he played the founder of the Trumps nightclub, and “Mosquito” (2020), in which he again played a military man in Africa, during the first World War.
The most recent film project would be “Nothing ever happened”, by Gonçalo Galvão Teles, still unpublished.
