Depending on the county where you live, there are a series of restrictions to contain the spread of covid-19 that you will have to obey this eve and the holiday this Tuesday, December 8, as announced by the Prime Minister for two weeks.

The most severe rules apply to 127 municipalities with extreme risk levels (more than 960 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days) and very high (between 480 and 960 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants), but there are rules that are applied throughout the national territory.

What restrictions are there this Monday?

In national terms, there are some rules. One of them is the limitation of the movement of people between municipalities until 11:59 p.m. on December 8, a measure that has been in force since 11 p.m. last Friday. The exceptions are those provided for other occasions when there were restrictions of this type: you can circulate who is going to work, provide support to relatives, buy medicines or fulfill parental responsibilities, for example. It still remains the ban on driving on public roads between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., but the curfew after 1 p.m. will only be in effect during holidays.

On this eve of the holiday, as it happened on December 1, there will also be no classes and the civil service will have a time allocation to avoid additional trips. The Government asked the private sector to also fire the workers in these two days.

Looking at only the 127 municipalities with extreme risk and very high risk, commercial establishments are obliged to close at 3 pm, but three exceptions to this requirement are foreseen.

Restaurants or similar establishments may operate outside the period between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm on the eve of the holiday “provided it is exclusively for home delivery or for the supply of goods at the door of the establishment” or in format to take away in this case, public access to the interior of the establishment is not allowed.

“They will also be able to operate retail establishments for food, natural or dietary products, health and hygiene, which have a sales or service area of 200 square meters or less with autonomous and independent entrance from there. public roads “.

Service stations may also be open, but “exclusively for the purpose of selling fuel and supplying vehicles to the public.”

Teleworking is mandatory in these municipalities as long as the functions in question allow it and the worker has the conditions to perform them, without the need for a written agreement between the employer and the worker.

In the municipalities with the lowest risk levels (moderate and high), you will be able to continue doing everything you do during the week. Stores are open until 10 pm and restaurants and shops close at 10:30 pm.

And on vacation this Tuesday?

In all 127 counties, the curfew will be in effect from 1 pm and you will not be able to circulate between counties, at least until 11:59 pm that day.

This was the fourth consecutive weekend in which the mandatory curfew was applied from 1:00 p.m., the holiday of last Tuesday, December 1, having also been in force. This measure should also continue for the next two weekends, António Costa announced this Saturday.

On public holidays the store closes at 1 pm, because from that moment on, circulation on public roads is prohibited, but the three exceptions that work on Monday also apply on Tuesday.

The new period of the state of exception ends at 11:59 p.m. on December 8, but the President of the Republic has already issued the Government decree that regulates the extension between Wednesday and December 23 to contain the covid-19 .
