According to the spokesman for Misericórdia, José Fernandes, in the last hours an 88-year-old woman and a 94-year-old man died and 14 more positive cases of users and three workers were reported to the institution.
The official explained that the new positives are cases of users who had been negative and were transferred to a hotel in the city. Now they have been retested and most are infected with the new coronavirus.
Misericórdia had advanced, on Friday, the final balance of some 700 tests carried out on workers and users of different social responses, without more positive cases among users.
Today the results of the new tests carried out reached users who had tested negative and the figures have changed.
The outbreak was discovered with a first positive test from an employee on September 23. Since then, all the merits of the Misericórdia de Bragança have been tested, including three nursing homes, a Continuous Care Unit, schools and a Special Education Center.
La Misericórdia de Bragança is the largest social institution and one of the largest employers in the Northeast Transmontano and is also the place where the largest outbreak of contagion by the new coronavirus occurred in the region, since the beginning of the pandemic.
The district of Bragança has registered a total of more than 900 confirmed cases of infection and 38 deaths associated with covid-19 since March.
