As RC reported [ler aqui], today increased to eight the number of illegal home users in Évora admitted with COVID-19.

In statements to journalists, the mayor of Évora explained that these hospitalized users “currently do not offer immediate care, they are in the infirmary and no one is in the intensive care unit,” while “the rest returned home waiting for the final decision to the health authority ”.

Users who are not hospitalized will go to a residence provided by the University of Évora, with a new team, since most of the institution’s employees are infected.

“The Social Security team had concerns about securing staff, but they simply assured us that they already have the minimum equipment that can move forward and are testing that equipment. Some of these caregivers will already enter the home to have a connection with the users and learn about the situation. I think that starting tomorrow the users will be relocated ”, explains Carlos Pinto de Sá.

The residence “has all the conditions”, but the employees will not stay there, having “their own accommodation”.

From the tests carried out on relatives and contacts of those infected, there have already been “six more active cases in the community related to this outbreak.”

In total, the municipality of Évora has 129 accumulated cases, 73 recovered and 56 active.

During the weekend “hundreds of tests” were carried out and today “231 tests are being carried out by public health, which is monitoring all contacts and relatives, in order to know possible infections and quarantine the necessary cases” .

Regarding the possibility of community contagion, the mayor said that “at the moment we still do not have information that there is community contagion, but the risk is high.”

It also reveals that as a precaution, some spaces have already been closed, namely a hypermarket, without revealing which establishment in question, and the employees are being evaluated.

Regarding the legalization of the home and the owner’s statements where he said that he had been trying to legalize it for four years, Carlos Pinto de Sá says that “as I said, there had already been a previous contact, one thing is the contacts that are established, another is the necessary legalization process. As I said, there is a problem in that urban area, the regulation does not contemplate the location of the houses, but it does contemplate the possibility of hotel units and, in our opinion, in a review of the plan there will be possibilities to consider this possibility and that was what that was passed on to the owner. when he contacted us ”.
