Portugal has seen an increase in the number of people infected with SARS-Cov-2 from 1,577 cases. Still, the numbers for this weekend are well below what has been reported in recent weeks.

The North region showed the highest increase in contagion cases in 24 hours: 717, which is equivalent to almost half the number of new infections.

It is followed by the Lisbon region and the Tagus Valley with 464 new cases. Of the rest, 279 occurred in the Center, 32 in the Alentejo, 38 in the Algarve, 10 in the Azores and 37 in Madeira.

As for deaths from covid-19 in the country, the figure now stands at 6,619. There are more than 63 deaths in 24 hours.

The number of recovered patients increased by 3,075 (roughly double the number of new infections). Since the start of the pandemic, more than 319,000 people have been reported to have recovered.

On the other hand, there was an increase in the number of hospitalized patients. Now there are 2,870 (80 more than on Saturday). However, there are also fewer than 9 people admitted to intensive care units (ICU).
