The Regional Health Authority (ARS) of the Azores is trying to identify the clients of the Gentlemen’s Club of the Dollhouse, a club of striptease in Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, due to a covid-19 outbreak that already has seven confirmed cases.

“The Regional Health Authority requests any person who has visited this establishment on October 30 and 31 and November 1, 2 and 3, 2020, and who has contacted the clients of that establishment, to contact contact with the Azores Health Line with a view to carrying out a detection test for the new coronavirus ”, says the ARS in a statement, adding that customers must adopt all preventive measures, including prophylactic isolation.

According to the Regional Health Authority, there are currently 11 transmission chains identified in the Azores, one on the island of Pico, two on the island of Terceira and eight on the island of São Miguel, the most recent of these last two islands.

“The next few hours and days will be decisive in deepening our understanding of the epidemiological situation on Terceira Island and São Miguel Island,” said Tiago Lopes, head of the Regional Health Authority of Azores.

One of the transmission chains on the island of São Miguel involves precisely the Gentlemen’s Club of the Dollhouse, Which worries the health authorities, because sometimes their regulars “try to omit their presence.” “Given this identification difficulty by the Health Authority, here we run an additional risk,” admitted Tiago Lopes.

This Thursday, 15 new cases of contagion by the new coronavirus were detected, 11 on the island of São Miguel and four on the island of Terceira, with only one detected in the screening carried out upon arrival in the region.

The Azores currently have 746 people under active surveillance and, according to the head of the Regional Health Authority, in the coming days “several hundred people”, close contacts of positive cases, will be tested.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 422 cases of infection with the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 have been detected in the Azores, with 16 deaths and 239 recoveries. There are currently 102 active positive cases, of which 78 in São Miguel, 15 in Terceira, four in Pico, two in Faial, one in Graciosa, one in Santa María and one on the island of Flores.
