The Government will mobilize teachers without teaching activity to help fight the pandemic. These professors will help health authorities to conduct epidemiological surveys, track the contacts of patients with Covid-19, and also monitor people under active surveillance. This mobilization is part of an order published in the Diário da República this Friday.

The order explains that the Regional Health Authority will contact the teachers “that it considers best qualified to strengthen the monitoring capacity”, promoting their training in the assigned task. The evaluation of the qualification of teachers for these tasks will take into account the training and functional content of the teachers.

“Teachers without a teaching component who are mobilized under this regime maintain all the rights inherent to the place of origin and cannot be injured in the development of their careers,” the Government guarantees in the fifth paragraph that makes up the call for teachers.

For epidemiological consultations and follow-up of contacts of people infected by covid-19, teachers with educational training in the field of health will be selected. The rest will mainly help to monitor people on active surveillance.

The government had already mobilized 300 civil protection officers to help carry out epidemiological investigations under the decree on the state of emergency, which was to be renewed last Tuesday.
