This Sunday, Portugal registered 256 new infections from the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and ten deaths from covid-19. Since the start of the pandemic, the country has recorded 814,513 cases and 16,694 deaths. The data were revealed in the epidemiological bulletin of the General Health Directorate (DGS) released this Monday, but referring to the entirety of Sunday.
Since October 13, when there were seven deaths from contagion, the country did not have such a low daily death toll. In other words, the value of the last Sunday is the lowest of the last five months in this indicator. No deaths were reported in the north, as well as in the Algarve, Azores and Madeira. The number of hospitalized patients has increased: there are now 966 people in hospitals, 20 more than on Saturday. In intensive care there was a reduction on Sunday. There are now 231 people in these units, 11 fewer than in the previous bulletin.
